The Challenge

The World Bank set out to produce a rigorous report assessing Rwanda’s readiness for a transition to electric mobility. While the depth of analysis was critical, the challenge lay in ensuring the report didn’t just sit on a shelf. The findings needed to spark interest, influence policy discussions, and catalyse further investment and research within the World Bank and beyond.

The Solution

Future by Design worked closely with the World Bank team to translate their vision into a 210-page report, "Exploring Enabling Energy Frameworks for Electric Mobility in Rwanda". We used clean, human-centred design, meaningful iconography, maps, and visual hierarchies to guide the reader through complex content. The result is a report that's clear, accessible, and compelling enough to inspire action.

The Results

1.7 million

People supported by the development of an efficient transport infrastructure in Nyabugogo.

0-emission

public bus system will help the area develop as a smart and sustainable city.

20%

Buses in Rwanda to be electrified by 2030.

Our journey with the World Bank Group

How do you turn a technical energy report into a catalyst for real-world change?

At Future by Design, we believe that design is more than decoration. When the World Bank asked us to help communicate Rwanda’s potential for electric mobility, we saw an opportunity to bridge the gap between policy and people.

From the start, our focus was on clarity, connection, and purpose. The result is a report that can travel across teams and continents, sparking conversations and laying the groundwork for smarter, cleaner, more sustainable urban mobility in Rwanda.

Through our creative direction and editorial design, we delivered a publication that transforms complex analysis into accessible insight. With bold visuals, human-centred photography, and intuitive design, the result is a compelling communications tool that helps the World Bank spark momentum and investment in Rwanda’s e-mobility future.

A word from the Head of Editorial Design

This World Bank publication embraces minimalism. The goal is to create a clean, modern document that uses ample white space to let the text breathe. The formatting is simple yet engaging, with subtle touches like title indents that add visual interest without clutter. The result is a publication that feels both refined and contemporary.
